Our Story

I started Santa Cruz Concierge Health because, honestly, the U.S. healthcare system makes getting quality care way harder than it should be. People spend months - sometimes years -getting bounced around between providers, stuck on waitlists, or paying out of pocket for quick-fix solutions that don’t last. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), I wanted to change that by making expert care accessible, flexible, and actually useful.

With telehealth sessions, flexible scheduling, and cost-conscious options, I help people get the treatment they need - without the headaches. My approach isn’t just about treating symptoms; it’s about figuring out what’s really going on so you can take control of your health for the long run. And here’s the deal: Unlike personal trainers, who focus on fitness, DPTs have years of medical training in movement science, rehab, and pain management. That’s a game-changer when it comes to injury prevention, long-term recovery, and performance.

I love what I do, and I love connecting with people who are ready to take charge of their health. If that’s you, let’s get started—on your terms, in a way that fits your life.

Our Team

Adam Barnard, PT, DPT

My path to founding Santa Cruz Concierge Health wasn’t exactly traditional - but that’s what makes it work. Before becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy, I built a career in corporate business operations, learning firsthand how systems thrive (or fail) based on efficiency, strategy, and connection. But I wanted to do more than just optimize processes - I wanted to make a direct impact on people’s lives.

Unlike most physical therapists, who study kinesiology as undergrads, I earned my BA in Communications. That foundation gave me a deep understanding of how connection drives change—something I bring into every patient interaction. Because physical therapy isn’t just about exercises and protocols; it’s about motivating real people to take charge of their health in a way that sticks.

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Unlike most physical therapists, who study kinesiology as undergrads, I earned my BA in Communications. That foundation gave me a deep understanding of how connection drives change—something I bring into every patient interaction. Because physical therapy isn’t just about exercises and protocols; it’s about motivating real people to take charge of their health in a way that sticks.

That drive led me to CSU Fresno’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, where I was elected class president all three years. My dissertation focused on Whole Body Vibration (WBV) as a treatment for knee osteoarthritis and post-total knee arthroplasty (TKA), pushing the boundaries of how we approach joint recovery and long-term mobility.

Six months after graduating, I stepped into the role of clinic director in Monterey, CA, and quickly grew our practice into a clinical and therapeutic hub for the community. But I wanted more—more autonomy, more connection with patients, and the ability to provide care on my own terms. So, in 2023, I moved to Santa Cruz and launched Santa Cruz Concierge Health.

Now, I work with patients who want the best—whether that’s in-home treatment or the convenience of virtual sessions. My goal is to provide top-tier, highly personalized care without the barriers of traditional healthcare. If you’re ready for a smarter, more flexible approach to your health, let’s get started.
